eToro Eyes $5 Billion Valuation with Q2 2025 Wall Street IPO

Source: Chow

The Israeli online trading platform eToro has confidentially filed for a Wall Street IPO with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), aiming for a $5 billion valuation, according to "The Financial Times." As previously reported by "Globes," the IPO is planned for completion in the second quarter of 2025, with Goldman Sachs, Jefferies, and UBS leading the effort.

While 75% of eToro’s revenue comes from Europe, the decision to go public in New York reflects a strategic move to expand its investor base. The company, which employs 1,700 people, including 1,000 in Israel, sees the IPO as a significant step in its growth trajectory.

A Second Attempt at Public Listing

This marks eToro’s second attempt to become a publicly traded company. Three years ago, eToro aimed to list on Nasdaq through a SPAC merger at a valuation exceeding $10 billion. However, the merger failed due to unfavorable market conditions and regulatory challenges in the cryptocurrency space.

In September 2024, eToro faced additional regulatory hurdles when the SEC restricted its digital currency activities. The company paid a $1.5 million fine and was limited to trading only three cryptocurrencies in the US: Bitcoin, Cash, and Ether.

Financial Performance and Challenges

Founded in 2007 by Yoni and Ronen Assia, eToro offers a trading platform for a variety of assets, including commodities, stocks, indices, and cryptocurrencies. The company has reported fluctuating financial results in recent years.

In 2023, eToro posted a net profit of $107 million, a significant recovery from its $40 million loss in 2022. However, its revenue remained flat at $630 million in 2023, half the $1.2 billion reported in 2021. Last year, eToro raised funds at a valuation of $3.5 billion—substantially lower than the $5 billion target for its upcoming IPO.

This IPO marks a pivotal moment for eToro as it seeks to solidify its position in the global financial market and overcome the challenges of the past.
