eToro Unveils Platinum+ Subscription Tier, Emulating Robinhood's Revenue Strategy

eToro has launched its Platinum+ membership tier, priced at $14.99 per month or $149.99 annually, removing the previous $50,000 account balance requirement for accessing premium broker perks.
The Nasdaq-listed firm announced the upgraded plan, building upon a cheaper Platinum subscription introduced last year.
The plan will debut in the UK and EU before expanding to other regions and includes a seven-day free trial.
Key benefits of Platinum+ include a Black Visa debit card offering 4% back in stocks on purchases, a dedicated account manager, a 40% discount on currency conversion fees, 3.55% interest on cash balances, and an 85% revenue share on eligible crypto staking.
Subscribers also receive unlimited access to Tori, eToro's AI investing companion, which uses Grok 4.2 to incorporate real-time market sentiment from X, and a complimentary digital subscription to The Wall Street Journal.
Existing Platinum subscribers can upgrade immediately with their remaining subscription balance prorated.
"The upgraded plan allows even more investors to access enhanced rewards, professional tools and premium experiences regardless of the balance in their trading account," said Etay Cohen, eToro's Chief Customer Officer.
The move follows a recurring-revenue model established by Robinhood. Robinhood Gold, priced at $5 monthly, ended Q3 with 3.9 million subscribers and approximately $88 million in subscription revenue for the period, according to its November earnings release.
Robinhood has expanded its premium ecosystem with a Gold credit card, a 4% APY savings product launched in 2025, and a discounted mortgage benefit via a partnership with Sage Home Loans.
Other European platforms like Trading 212 and Revolut have similarly added interest-bearing accounts and tiered card products to their core apps.
The subscription push holds particular urgency for eToro, which completed its Nasdaq IPO in May 2025 at a valuation of around $4.8 billion.
Post-listing, the firm has accelerated product launches, including AI-built Alpha portfolios, a stock-lending program for European clients, and a 1% crypto-to-stock cashback program aimed at diversifying revenue away from digital assets, which comprised 91% of Q2 revenue.
Subscription income is seen as less correlated to crypto market cycles. eToro has not disclosed user numbers for its November Platinum plan, a figure critical to assessing the impact of Platinum+ on earnings.
