Euroclear's business income in the first six months of 2021 was €723 million, up 13% over the same time last year. The operating income increased 7% to €777 million compared to €730 million in H1 2020. The net profit increased by 11% to €251 million, from €227 million registered a year ago. Banking and Other income, however, fell by 40% to €54 million (H1 2020: €91 million), due to reduced interest rate.

Besides, Euroclear posted an increase of 11% in EPS (earnings per share), from €72.0 to €79.8. Operating costs increased by 4% to €444 million. The firm reported operational costs of €428 million in the first half of 2020.

The Board plans to approve the dividend linked to the 2020 results for payment in September 2021, as previously stated. In comparison to March, the dividend will remain unchanged.

At the end of June, total assets under custody were at €35.2 trillion (H1 2020: €31.1 trillion), up 13% YoY. A total of 149 million netting transactions were paid in the Euroclear group, a 6% increase (H1 2020: 141 million).

"I am pleased to report that Euroclear achieved a record business performance in the first half of 2021. Our consistent strategy has delivered a growing financial performance, despite a business environment that remains uncertain. By continuing to invest in our people and technology, we are supporting our clients' and the broader market's need for robust infrastructure, across asset classes, as they access our global network of financial market participants," commented Lieve Mostrey, the Chief Executive Officer of Euroclear.

Earlier in June, Fazzaco reported that Francesco Vanni d'Archirafi was appointed as the New Chairman of the boards of Euroclear.
