Euronext Reports 17.1% Monthly Rise in September FX Volumes

Fazzaco learned that Euronext, the largest stock exchange in Europe, has released its trading volumes for the month of September, reporting a significant increase in FX volume from the previous month.

According to the figures, Euronext’s FX volume for September came in at $407.81 billion, which is up 17.1% compared to the prior month’s number of $348.13 billion. Additionally, it represented a yearly decline of 13.1%, which was witnessed in the same period last year.
As a result, the average daily volume (ADV) for the forex market in September was $18.53 billion, another surge on a monthly basis of 17.1% compared with August’s number of $15.82 billion. On a yearly basis, the ADV FX volume fell by 13.1% from $21.33 billion in the same period last year.
In terms of the derivatives market, the total futures for September accounted for 7,857,835 lots, up 51.3% from the figure seen in the prior last month of 5,193,125 lots. The total options were 9,604,733 lots, up 29% compared to August 2021, whose number was 7,442,808 lots.
Moreover, the total cash market number of transactions accounted for 77,301,788, up 20% from August’s figure of 64,488,084. The ADV of cash market in September was 3,513,718.
Last month, Euronext announced the launch of an option contract on the Euronext Eurozone Banks Index which has been co-designed with market participants.
