Euronext Reports 6.6% Monthly Rise in February FX Volumes

Fazzaco learned that Euronext, the largest stock exchange in Europe, has released its trading volumes for the month of February 2022, reporting an increase in FX volume from the previous month.
According to the figures, Euronext's FX volume for February came in at $500 billion, which is up 6.6% compared to the prior month's number of $469.2 billion. Additionally, it represented a yearly increase of 14.2% from $437.8 billion, which was witnessed in the same period last year.
As a result, the average daily volume (ADV) for the forex market in February was $25 billion, another surge on a monthly basis of 11.9% compared with January's number of $22.3 billion. On a yearly basis, the ADV FX volume increased by 14.2% from $21.89 billion in the same period last year.
In terms of the derivatives market, the total futures for February accounted for 5,931,734 lots, up 6.4% from the figure seen in the prior last month of 5,572,530 lots. The total options were 10,649,622 lots, declined 7.7% compared to January 2022, whose number was 11,539,625 lots.
Moreover, the total cash market number of transactions accounted for 86,660,532, up 5% from January's figure of 82,330,532. The ADV of cash market in February was 4,333,027.
Last week, Euronext announced that it would launch a new ESG Index, the OBX ESG Index. This index will identify the companies that demonstrate the best Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices.
