Exegy, a provider of market data and trading infrastructure, has launched Nexus, a new FPGA-powered market data platform. The company states that Nexus is designed to address the demands of high-volume and high-volatility trading environments by replacing traditional server-heavy systems with hardware-accelerated solutions that process data in microseconds.

While Nexus is primarily targeted at institutional clients such as market makers, agency brokers, and hedge funds, Exegy suggests its impact could extend to the retail trading sector through improved liquidity and infrastructure efficiency. Many retail and CFD brokers rely on institutional liquidity providers, who could potentially benefit from faster market data, lower operational costs, and greater scalability offered by Nexus.

According to Exegy, Nexus enables trading strategies to react in under 3 microseconds and can reduce datacenter footprints by over 40%. A case study with a U.S. equities broker reportedly showed potential infrastructure savings of nearly $2 million annually through reduced server counts and improved performance. For retail platform users, these enhancements could lead to tighter spreads, more consistent pricing, and faster execution, particularly during periods of market volatility. In a related development, Exegy and BMLL Technologies have expanded their partnership to enhance the integration of historical and real-time data for U.S. equity options trading. Exegy has also recently appointed Jim Fiesel as its Chief Revenue Officer.
