Global accounting and consulting giant EY has expanded its Asia Pacific leadership team with five new members.
According to the Australian Patrick Winter, since July 2018 EY’s boss for the Asia-Pacific region, the expansion of the firm’s top body for the region, known as the Area Operating Executive (AOE), is related to two developments. First, it reflects the growing importance of the region for EY’s overall strategy. Strong growth in recent years has seen EY’s Asia Pacific headcount grow from 27,000 a decade ago to the 48,000 today. Meanwhile, EY has also ramped up its services offering in the region, adding new capabilities such as strategy consulting, cybersecurity and digital transformation, and expanding existing offerings. To cater for the larger span of control, Winter and his AOE members have decided to enlarge the number of executive seats.Second, as elsewhere across the globe, EY is facing major change, both at its clients as well as internally. “It’s essential that we help spearhead transformation for the EY organisation and our clients. With the new additions to the Area Operating Executive, EY Asia-Pacific is ready to not only respond quickly to disruptions, but to overcome and thrive,” said Winter.
