8b5d3c489d135baa1acf35b6b16eba2.jpegFanDuel and CME Group have jointly launched FanDuel Predicts, a mobile platform that allows U.S. users to trade on the outcomes of major financial, economic, cultural, and sports events. The initiative brings elements of regulated derivatives markets into a consumer-facing app, expanding access to prediction-style trading beyond traditional futures and options platforms.

The initial rollout covers five states—Alabama, Alaska, South Carolina, North Dakota, and South Dakota—with a phased expansion planned nationwide over the coming months and into early 2026. FanDuel Predicts will be available on both the Apple App Store and Google Play, using FanDuel’s existing identity verification and compliance systems.

The platform enables users to buy or sell event contracts tied to real-world outcomes, with prices ranging from USD 0.01 to USD 0.99. Participants can take a position by selecting “Yes” or “No” on whether a specified event will occur. Access requires completion of a full Know Your Customer process, aligning onboarding standards with those used in regulated financial markets.

At launch, FanDuel Predicts will offer contracts linked to a broad set of indicators, including major equity indices such as the S&P 500 and Nasdaq-100, commodity prices, cryptocurrencies, and macroeconomic data like GDP and inflation. In certain states where online sports betting is not yet legal, the platform will also feature sports-related event contracts. These will be withdrawn in jurisdictions where sports betting becomes legal, maintaining separation from regulated wagering.

James Cooper, Senior Vice President of Flywheel and New Ventures at FanDuel, said the platform provides users with new ways to engage with major global events, adding that the initial rollout will help inform future expansion plans.

From CME Group’s perspective, the partnership offers an opportunity to reach a wider audience with simplified event contracts. Lynne Fitzpatrick, President and Chief Financial Officer of CME Group, described the launch as a step toward broadening access to markets tied to global benchmarks and economic indicators.

FanDuel said consumer protection measures applied across its gaming platforms will also apply to FanDuel Predicts. These include deposit limits, alerts, self-exclusion options, and access to responsible participation support services.

The launch reflects growing interest in prediction markets as tools for engagement and price discovery. By integrating event-based trading into a mainstream mobile app, FanDuel and CME Group are testing whether such products can appeal to a broader retail audience while operating within regulatory frameworks.
