The app, called FanDuel Predicts, introduces users to event-based contracts that reflect the probability of specific outcomes, marking a convergence of prediction markets and entertainment.

According to the announcement, the initial rollout is limited to five U.S. states—Alabama, Alaska, South Carolina, North Dakota, and South Dakota—with plans for a broader national expansion in early 2026. Users can buy or sell contracts tied to benchmarks such as the S&P 500, Nasdaq-100, oil and gas prices, gold, cryptocurrencies, and major economic indicators including GDP and CPI. The platform also offers sports-related contracts covering leagues such as baseball, basketball, football, and hockey, particularly in states where online sports betting is not yet legal.

FanDuel said the sports component will be withdrawn in any state that later approves online wagering, in order to comply with local regulations. CME Group views the collaboration as a way to expand access to prediction-style financial products. "CME Group prediction markets will enable a new generation of users to express their views on global benchmarks, economic indicators, sports and more," said Lynne Fitzpatrick, CME Group's President and Chief Financial Officer.

The app allows for small-stake participation, with wagers reportedly starting at around $1 through simple yes-or-no contracts that can be traded multiple times a day. FanDuel has also emphasized responsible engagement features, including deposit limits, alerts, self-exclusion options, and access to mental health support via Kindbridge Behavioral Health.

The partnership extends CME Group's event contract offerings to FanDuel's large gaming customer base, as prediction-based products have gained momentum in 2025. As digital markets evolve, the initiative highlights a growing overlap between financial speculation and entertainment, raising questions about how such hybrid platforms will fit within existing regulatory and retail trading frameworks.
