3. StoneX Posts 46% Y/Y Jump in Total Revenues in Q2 FY22
Fazzaco learned that StoneX Group Inc. (NASDAQ: SNEX), a diversified global brokerage and financial services firm providing execution, risk management and advisory services, market intelligence and clearing services across multiple asset classes and markets around the world, has announced its financial results for the fiscal year 2022 second quarter ended March 31, 2022, revealing a jump in its total revenues.
More specifically, total revenues jumped 46% to $16,382.7 million in the three months ended March 31, 2022 compared to $11,244.8 million in the three months ended March 31, 2021. Operating revenues increased $73.3 million, or 16%, to $544.7 million during this period, compared to the previous year's $471.4 million. Besides, the financial results for the fiscal year 2022 second quarter include a nonrecurring gain of $6.4 million related to a foreign exchange antitrust class action settlement received in March 2022.
4. Binance to Invest $500M in Elon Musk's Takeover of Twitter
Cryptocurrency exchange Binance committed $500 million and venture capital firm Sequoia Capital $800 million to help finance Elon Musk's $44 billion takeover of social media platform Twitter (TWTR).
Around $7.1 billion has been committed by 19 different parties with Fidelity putting aside $316 million for the takeover.
5. BitMEX Co-Founders to Pay Total $30M for Illegal Operation and AML Violations
The Commodity Futures Trading Commission today announced the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York entered consent orders against the three co-founders of the BitMEX cryptocurrency derivatives trading platform: Arthur Hayes, Benjamin Delo, and Samuel Reed.
The three co-founders are required to pay a total of $30 million civil monetary penalty for their actions. The orders require each to pay a $10 million civil monetary penalty, and also enjoin Hayes, Delo, and Reed from further violations of the Commodity Exchange Act (CEA) and CFTC regulations, as charged.
6. Former Saxo Bank Exec Michael Aagaard Joins GCEX as Managing Director in Denmark
Michael Aagaard, former Head of Foreign Exchange at Saxo Bank has been appointed as Managing Director of GCEX in Denmark. He will be responsible for all GCEX's activities out of Denmark and GCEX's growing team in Copenhagen. He will also work closely with Founder and CEO, Lars Holst on strategic growth plans for the organisation.
Michael Aagaard spent almost 20 years at Saxo Bank. As Head of Foreign Exchange he was responsible for product development and strategy of all FX and crypto products. He joins GCEX from a contractor role at Oanda, where he has spent the last six months as a Digital Assets Consultant advising Oanda on its digital assets offering.
7. Currency.com and Capital.com CEO Jon Squires Decides to Leave
Fazzaco learned that Jon Squires, CEO at both Currency.com and Capital.com for more than 2 years, has decided to end his tenure.
"May 31 will be my last day with Currency.com and capital.com, two incredible groups filled with superb people and brilliant tech," Jon posted on LinkedIn.
