FCA Announces Restrictions on Unregulated Lender Kingscrown Finance

Kingscrown Finance Limited has ceased onboarding new clients and halted all new business with existing customers, including the extension of current credit facilities. The firm, incorporated in 2014, specializes in lending for business and investment, covering areas such as property investment, buy-to-let, and houses in multiple occupation (HMO) finance.
These voluntary restrictions took effect on 21 April 2026. Kingscrown has never been authorized or registered with the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). The company has informed all existing customers of the restrictions and their implications and will secure all its books and records.
The FCA recently issued reminders to regulated firms about the risks of engaging with unregulated lenders. The regulator had previously expressed concerns in a 2024 letter to CEOs regarding anti-money laundering standards at certain businesses.
Firms applying for FCA registration under the 2017 Money Laundering Regulations must ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements. The FCA stated it will consider using its regulatory tools where appropriate, including restricting the business activities of firms seeking registration.
