FCA Halts HTX Crypto Promotions as Exchange Exits UK

The UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has secured High Court undertakings ensuring that crypto exchange HTX, formerly Huobi, will not knowingly promote cryptoasset services unlawfully to UK consumers, the regulator said.
The FCA brought legal action against HTX in October 2025 for breaching UK financial promotion rules, citing the exchange's repeated failure to engage with the regulator. After proceedings began, HTX took steps to exit the UK, and the FCA and Huobi Global S.A. have now reached a settlement in the case.
Steve Smart, executive director of enforcement and market oversight at the FCA, said crypto firms should be under no illusion that being based overseas does not put them beyond the reach of UK law. He added that the action means HTX is leaving the UK and can no longer target UK consumers, and that other firms should follow the rules or face the consequences.
The FCA advised consumers to check a firm's permissions using the FCA Firm Checker and to remember that cryptoassets are high-risk investments.
