FCA Warns Against A Clone Firm of Wells Fargo

The Financial Conduct Authority(FCA) yesterday issued a warning against a clone firm of Wells Fargo.

As detailed in the official announcement, the scammers are using the details of the FCA-authorized Wells Fargo branch to target people in the UK, claiming to be an authorised firm.

More specifically, they are using or giving out the following details as part of their tactics to scam people in the UK:

The FCA warns that scammers may give out other false details or mix these with some correct details of the registered firm. They may change contact details over time to new email addresses, telephone numbers or physical addresses. All firms and individuals carrying out financial services activities in the UK have to be authorized or registered by them.

It strongly advises the public to only deal with financial firms that are authorized, and to check the Financial Services Register to avoid scams and unauthorized firms.
