FCA warns of offshore Retail FX broker OBTFX

UK financial regulator The FCA has issued a warning regarding offshore Retail FX and CFDs broker OBTFX, which operates the obtfx.com website.

The company’s site claims that OBTFX is run by a company called  DIGITAL C MEDIA, domiciled in Saint Vincent and The Grenadines.

The FCA stated that it believes this firm has been providing financial services or products in the UK without our authorisation. Almost all firms and individuals offering, promoting or selling financial services or products in the UK have to be authorised by the FCA.

However, some firms act without its authorisation and some knowingly run investment scams.

The regulator stated that this firm is not authorised by us and is targeting people in the UK. Based upon information the FCA holds, it believes that OBTFX is carrying on regulated activities which require authorisation.

The regulator said to be aware that scammers may give out other false details or change their contact details over time to new email addresses, telephone numbers or physical addresses.
