Yael Clovyn, who described herself as a "third culture kid", is a multi-cultural, bilingual, well-travelled international professional with deep experience in marketing management and relationship management of business partnerships. She currently is the Marketing Manager at BridgerPay, a payments intelligence platform, responsible for developing, implementing, and executing strategic marketing plans.

Fazzaco recently has e-met Yael and talked about her story and opinions on gender equality in the fintech industry.

Fazzaco: Tell us something about yourself that's not on your resume.

Yael: I'm a TCK, a "third culture kid". My parents are Israeli and Belgian, and I grew up in Thailand. This makes me a people person.

Fazzaco: What are the anticipated stories that led you to your current profession?

Yael: Like most millenials, there was a bit of trial and error on my career path until I finally understood that I'm at my best when working with people to make ideas come to life. As mentioned above, I'm a people person and marketing is all about finding the best way to engage with people.

Fazzaco: As a female leader, do you think it's a challenge to get into the male-dominated fintech industry?

Yael: I feel very lucky to work in a company where half of the management is female! I think that the only challenge women in male-dominated industries are facing is the wage gap.

Fazzaco: Reportedly, the first year of the pandemic knocked 54 million women around the world out of work. Of the women who lost jobs in 2020, almost 90 percent exited the labor force completely, compared with around 70 percent of men. As an experienced female leader, what's your advice for those women who are striving for excellence in the workplace?

Yael: Your opinion matters, so let your voice be heard and own it. Don't be afraid to make mistakes and celebrate your wins!

Fazzaco: As a minority female leader, have you found any differences between men's and women's perspectives when making a strategic decision or a decision related to profession?

Yael: Nope.

Fazzaco: Could you give some advice on how to improve career development in an organization?

Yael: I would say by learning new things, sharing ideas with peers, and constantly moving forward/thinking ahead.

Fazzaco: Tell us your secrets to balancing work and personal life.

Yael: This is a tough one, and I'm still trying to figure it out. What I can say is that days off are there for you to take and enjoy them!

Fazzaco: What do you want to achieve this year?

Yael: Looking forward to hitting and exceeding my personal KPIs while growing (doubling or tripling) the Marketing team at BridgerPay!
