Female Executive in Fintech Talks: Paulina Rivera, Head of Support at Technology Vector - The Fintech Industry Is Heading Towards Semi-regulation

Paulina Rivera is the head of support at Technology Vector.
We don't have much to say about Paulina. In fact, we didn't get a chance to know more about her, as she is from Ukraine, where, "the situation is very difficult and terrible", said her collegaue Bogdana, CMO at Technology Vector. These words should be enough to describe her situation.
We hope the war could end earlier, and people there can get back to normal life.
Fazzaco: Hi Paulina! Thanks for joining us at Fazzaco today! How did you get into the finance industry?
Paulina:Hello, thank you for inviting me!
Pretty spontaneous. My first job in this field found me by itself. A friend of mine placed my number for a job vacancy that required English. I was young and restless, so I grabbed this chance. That's how I became a sales manager. To cut a long story short, I wasn't satisfied with the working conditions, therefore I ended up as support at Technology Vector.
Fazzaco: Could you please share with us some highlights in your career with Technology Vector?
Paulina:I remember the week when my bosses went to an expo exhibition and I was left alone with all my clients. It was a crazy week, every force majeure that could happen seemed to happen. My dear bosses were in touch with me, of course, but I was still the only one who had to interact with all of this.
I would not call it a highlight, but it was a turning point, because it gave me confidence in my actions and understanding that everything is up to me. Think you'll agree that self-confidence is a major skill in any field.
Fazzaco: As a female leader, do you think it's a challenge to get into the financial industry with a majority of men? Do you think the forex industry has a higher threshold than other finance sectors for women? Why?
Paulina:It's a challenge if your boss's mindset is "Kinder, Küche, Kirche". Luckily my boss and everyone, who surrounds me, lives in 21th century and dont have those stupid ideas.
Frankly speaking, I know about the unequal conditions for women. Not just at work. Unpleasant to realize that still there are people who think that a woman is an attribute of a successful man as an element of decoir. Alas, this is not fiction, but reality.
And I am incredibly lucky, as I said above, to avoid such people very successfully.
Fazzaco: Are you happy with your work-life balance?
Paulina:For now the answer is "yes". I know how to separate personal life and work, but I faced problems with that in the past. At some point I even felt exhausted and burned out, but we are all God's people - everybody has faced in his life.
Luckily, multivitamins and handmade-hobbies are an affordable cure for everyone.
I'm sure to stay focused and efficient at work, (as well as just a happier person) you need to rest well. And not just by watching a show on the same laptop and in the same room where you work. It is very important to switch between activities of different kinds. Something creative would be great. I'll be honest, I have a candle making and bath bomb making kit at home. Have to admit that I fail in both things, but the main idea is to satisfy my "inner child" on weekends. And on Monday, when I open my laptop, I don't think: "damn, I hate Mondays" or "give me some slack". On the contrary, I solve each task thoroughly and with interest.
Fazzaco: What are your thoughts on the fintech industry? Where should it be heading? And what role would Technology Vector play in it?
Paulina:I believe that this sphere is developing in the direction of semi regulation. Let me explain. It's no secret that there is a lot of deception in the world. People choose this way because it is easier and simpler. Therefore, the stricter the rules are, the harder it is to follow them, the more likely it is that they will be violated. Of course, semi regulation is not a cure-all, it won't get rid of all the companies working without a license, but it will reduce their number. This is an important step for the fintech industry's future, in which Technology Vector plays an important role because apart from continuing to provide technology to brokers, we are also helping them with this regulation.
We care about our customers' security as much as our own.
Fazzaco: Any suggestions you want to share with women beginners who dream to engage in this industry?
Paulina:My suggestion is to improve yourself on a daily basis, always try to learn something new and develop in general. To provide more sufficient services you need to improve your knowledge in this field, be confident at work, but this advice also need to be applied to your hobbies and to your life in general - whatever you do in your life beside work, playing guitar or knitting, you need to work on the skills, find new information about different approach to things and enjoy process. The meaning of life is not a reaching goal itself, it is a way to this goal. Don't stop after achieving your dream, always aim high and don't be lazy in self improvement - that's the key to happiness and success.
