This appointment comes with specific conditions designed to maintain ethical business practices, as outlined in a detailed six-page document.

Baker, who retired from government service in 2024, is expected to leverage his extensive contacts within the UK government to assist Axiom. However, he has committed to abstaining from any lobbying efforts for the next two years, ensuring compliance with government regulations regarding former officials. Importantly, Baker stated that he did not engage with Axiom representatives during his time in office, which facilitated the government's approval of his new role.

Baker will focus on attracting new clients for Axiom and contributing unique insights to enhance the firm's investment strategies.

Baker and Axiom co-founder Allen Farrington recently co-authored an opinion piece highlighting the significance of Bitcoin as a stable currency amidst the ongoing devaluation of fiat currencies. They argue that Bitcoin should not be dismissed as a speculative bubble, especially as more nation-states begin to embrace it.

The discussion around Bitcoin has gained momentum, particularly following the election of pro-cryptocurrency leaders in the United States, including President-elect Donald Trump, who has indicated a willingness to use Bitcoin as a financial buffer against the growing national debt.

"Institutions and governments must now determine whether Bitcoin is merely a speculative asset or a viable solution to financial instability," they asserted.

As countries and publicly traded firms add Bitcoin to their financial portfolios, the trend is becoming increasingly evident. Companies like MicroStrategy Inc. have set a precedent that others are eager to follow, including Japan's Metaplanet Inc..

Baker views Bitcoin as a synthetic commodity essential for combating inflation, emphasizing that the private sector now represents the most viable path to achieving sound financial practices. The Bitcoin market has expanded to a valuation exceeding $2 trillion, with around 1 million active holders. Experts predict that Bitcoin’s market value may soon surpass that of gold, driven by growing acceptance among institutional investors and governments alike.
