Atlanta-headquartered futures exchange, Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) has unveiled weak metrics across its FX and credit volumes for April, which averaged 33,000 contracts per day.

The figure reflected a 45 percent drop month-over-month from 48,000 contracts in March 2021. However, the exchange operator registered a stronger advance in volumes when compared to the 25,000 contracts in April 2020.

Turnover from ICE's flagship energy contracts dropped further in April, according to data released on Wednesday, as the volatility eased.

For the month ending April 30th, 2021, the exchange operator, which recently sold its 1.4 percent stake in the Nasdaq-listed cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase for $1.2 billion, saw its energy volume average 2.65 million contracts per day, which represents a fall of 24 percent month-on-month compared with 3.29 million contracts in March 2021. Across a yearly interval, the latest figures showed a 40 percent drop from 3.70 million contracts per day in April 2020.

In addition, this latest figure marked a 22 percent drop over April 2020 which came at 6.24 million contracts per day.
