GBBC Announces Merger with GDF

The GBBC (Global Blockchain Business Council) and GDF (Global Digital Finance) have announced a merger between the two industry bodies to become the world's largest industry association for the blockchain technology and digital assets ecosystem.

GBBC is a leading global industry association initially formed in 2017 to drive the adoption of blockchain technology. GDF was established in 2019 and has to date focused on the adoption of best practices for crypto assets, digital finance technologies, and related conduct standards.

The merger will see GBBC and GDF join their respective resources, assets, and membership, resulting in an association with nearly 500 institutional members and 178 ambassadors, operating in 95 jurisdictions and across various disciplines.

GDF will be renamed GBBC Digital Finance, based in the UK, with teams predominantly across EMEA and APAC.

"Our global collaboration, scale, and influence will be a game-changer for our members and for Web3 as a whole," said Sandra Ro, CEO of the GBBC. "I am incredibly excited about the forthcoming positive impact of this combined network across industries and sectors."

The combined influence of GBBC and GDF is expected to help facilitate collaboration on a robust global framework for blockchain, crypto, and digital assets.

Two other organisations that merged with the GBBC were the PTDL (Post-Trade Distributed Ledger) Group in 2018 and the IWA (Interwork Alliance) last September.
