Gemini Acquires MPC Developer Shard X

Fazzaco learned that cryptocurrency exchange Gemini has announced to acquire Shard X, providing easy to integrate, state-of-the-art custodial infrastructure for blockchain assets using secure multi-party computation (MPC) technology.

According to the official press release, Gemini will integrate Shard X's MPC technology into its distributed, multi-site key management and signing infrastructure, markedly increasing the speed with which Gemini can transfer customer assets and provide support for new asset listings and usage on the Gemini platform.

Moreover, the addition of Shard X's MPC will also work in concert with all other aspects of Gemini's custody offering.

Commenting on this acquisition, Tyler Winklevoss, CEO at Gemini, stated, "Integrating MPC technology into our wallets will enable secure and faster crypto transfers that will help our customers keep pace with liquidity needs and market demands." 

As Fazzaco reported earlier, Gemini has partnered with Mastercard and WebBank​ to launch its its credit card that will reward users in cryptocurrencies. The Gemini Credit Card offers a seamless way to consumers for acquiring bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies as a reward on their everyday purchases.
