Gemini Gains Preliminary Approval for Services in Singapore

Gemini, a New York-based cryptocurrency exchange, has received in-principle approval from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) to offer cross-border money transfers and digital payment token services. The approval marks a significant step for Gemini's expansion in the Asia-Pacific region. Saad Ahmed, Gemini's Head of Asia-Pacific, shared that this milestone aligns with the company's strategy to cater to the growing demand for digital financial services in Singapore.
"While the United States remains our largest market and global headquarters, Asia and Singapore in particular play a crucial role in our global strategy," Ahmed stated, noting that Singapore is the exchange's second-largest market by customer base, after the U.S. The Winklevoss-led company has emphasized its goal to diversify internationally, citing regulatory challenges in the U.S. as a motivator for its expansion efforts in Singapore. Singapore will continue to serve as the Asia-Pacific hub for Gemini, with local capabilities being developed to support regional operations.
