Germany’s BaFin Flags Unlicensed Crypto and Investment Scams Targeting Consumers

According to BaFin, the websites vermoegenmeister.de, dfcapital-gmbh.com, tradiascrypto.de, and alpacamining.com, along with certain WhatsApp investment groups allegedly linked to “Bayshore Kapitalverwaltung GmbH,” are offering unauthorised financial, banking, or cryptoasset services in violation of German law.

Fake Companies and Identity Fraud

  • BaFin highlighted several cases involving identity theft, where scammers impersonated legitimate companies to appear trustworthy:

  • The website dfcapital-gmbh.com falsely claims ties to DF Deutsche Finance Capital GmbH in Munich, which BaFin confirmed is not connected to the platform.

  • tradiascrypto.de also misuses the name of tradias GmbH in Frankfurt and has been linked to “recovery scams”, targeting previous fraud victims with false promises of fund recovery.

  • vermoegenmeister.de references a non-existent company, VermögenMeister GmbH, which is not listed in Germany’s commercial register.

Investment Scams via WhatsApp

In another case, BaFin warned about WhatsApp groups titled “VIP-Kundenbetreuung Nr. (…)” and “Aktienclub Nr. (…)”, which are allegedly operated by a fake Bayshore Kapitalverwaltung GmbH. These groups lure investors with free stock tips and seminars, before persuading them to use unauthorised apps such as BayGo and BayGoPro.

BaFin says the fraudsters build trust over time, later pushing users to deposit funds into offshore or crypto accounts — a pattern typical of social-media-based investment scams.

Unlicensed Crypto Mining Platform

The regulator also named alpacamining.com, which is allegedly offering crypto mining and investment services without BaFin supervision.

BaFin reminded consumers that only firms authorised under the German Banking Act (KWG) or the German Cryptomarkets Supervision Act (KMAG) may legally offer such services in Germany. Investors can verify a provider’s regulatory status through BaFin’s official company database.
