GFI Securities Fined by CME Group Over COMEX Block Trade Reporting Breach
CME Group has issued a notice of summary action against GFI Securities Ltd after identifying multiple breaches of COMEX reporting requirements.
According to the notice, GFI Securities failed on several occasions in October 2025 to report block trades within the required time limits. The violations involved trades executed in a range of steel-related derivatives, including January 2026 North European Hot-Rolled Coil Steel (Argus) Average Price Options, November 2025 U.S. Midwest Domestic Hot-Rolled Coil Steel (CRU) Index Futures, as well as March and April 2026 North European Hot-Rolled Coil Steel (Argus) Futures.
As a result of the reporting lapses, CME Group imposed a fine of $5,000 on the firm for violating COMEX Rule 526.F, which governs the timely reporting of block trades.
The notice of summary action took effect on January 5, 2026.
