GMO CLOUD to change its name to GMO GlobalSign

Japanese online services provider GMO Internet Inc. (TYO:9449) today published a brief notice regarding the plans of one of its subsidiaries – GMO CLOUD K.K., to change its name. The new name of the entity will be GMO GlobalSign Holdings K.K.

The decision about the change was made at a meeting of the Board of Directors convened today. The proposal also envisages amendments to part of the company’s Articles of Incorporation to be considered an extraordinary shareholders meeting to be held in August 2020.

GMO CLOUD provides convenient and reliable Internet services, such as hosting & cloud and security businesses, and forms part of GMO Internet’s internet infrastructure business segment. The security business has continued to improve its publicity and reputation globally by making use of the GlobalSign brand.

The name change aims to further increase awareness of the GlobalSign brand across the world and to enhance the corporate value of the company further through business growth by providing top-quality trust services in Japan in each business area.

The planned date for the implementation of the name change is September 1, 2020.
