Goldman Sachs Appoints New Global Chairman of Investment Banking

Goldman Sachs has announced the appointment of Raghav Maliah as a chairman of investment banking, a newly created global position within the firm.
Mr. Maliah will assume this expanded role in addition to his existing responsibilities as co-head of mergers & acquisitions in Asia Pacific and head of the Technology, Media, and Telecommunications Group in Asia Pacific Ex-Japan.
The appointment was confirmed by a spokesperson for Goldman Sachs, following an internal memo issued by the bank on Wednesday. Mr. Maliah, a member of Goldman Sachs' Asia Pacific Management Committee, initially joined the firm as an associate in 2000, becoming a managing director in 2006 and a partner in 2010.
This move aligns with Goldman Sachs' broader strategy to capitalize on a recent revamp in Asia, aiming to increase its share of the investment banking market in the region.
