Source: dLocal
Montevideo based dLocal, a FinTech provider that specializes in cross-border payments for emerging countries, has announced that the company has added Google Pay to its local payments methods offerings.
Google Pay is a digital wallet platform and online payment system developed by Google to power in-app and tap-to-pay purchases on mobile devices, enabling users to make payments with their smart devices. Customers can pay from Android devices and mobile phones, and computers. It is now fully compatible with dLocal’s payments solution enabling merchants to accept popular digital wallet immediately with minimal effort on their part.
Google Pay provides millions of customers globally with a fast, secure way to pay online, in stores and more with credit and debits cards stored in their Google accounts. According to company data, its service for in-store is currently available in approximately 30 countries and for online in 70 countries, including ten key emerging markets. The company has recently partnered with FreedomPay to support eCommerce payments.
Google Pay purchasing procedure can be completed in three steps:
Shoppers click the Google Pay button during checkout.
Select an already stored payment method.
Authorize the Google Payment and click the submit order button to complete the transaction.
“In the past couple of years, consumers have increasingly used Google Pay to make online purchases. With today’s news, our eCommerce partners can now offer a faster and easier checkout experience, decreasing ‘time-to-buy’ and increasing conversion across multiple emerging markets in Latin America, APAC and Middle East and Africa,” said Rodrigo Sánchez Prandi, VP Product at dLocal.
He further added, “Our experience shows that offering consumers the flexibility to pay online with the payment method of their choice greatly increases the chance of completing the purchase.”
dLocal is a 360 payments technology platform designed to handle mass online payments in growth markets across LATAM, APAC & EMEA. It helps in eliminating cross-border payment complexities and minimising operational costs. dLocal’s single API platform removes the need for separate payin and payout processors, setting up local entities, integrating isolated acquirers and payment methods. Some of dLocal’s customers include Avast, Banggood, Booking.com, Constant Contact, Didi, DropBox, GoDaddy, MailChimp, TripAdvisor, Uber, and Wikimedia.
