HashKey Capital Receives SFC Authorization for In-Kind Subscriptions to Digital Investment Fund

HashKey Capital has received authorization from Hong Kong's Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) enabling in-kind subscriptions to its HashKey Digital Investment Fund. This approval allows investors to contribute a range of digital assets directly into the actively managed fund, a departure from conventional subscription models that typically require contributions in fiat currency.
The firm's offering supports contributions in any of the top 100 cryptocurrencies based on market capitalization. Examples of accepted assets include Bitcoin, Ether, Ripple, Solana, Dogecoin, Cardano, Sui, Chainlink, Toncoin, and Polkadot.
According to an official press release, investors previously often had to convert their digital assets into fiat currency before subscribing to regulated funds, a process described as potentially involving delays, conversion costs, and pricing inefficiencies. By permitting direct transfers of supported tokens, the new mechanism is stated to remove this step, streamlining access to the fund for holders of cryptocurrencies.
A representative from HashKey Capital indicated that this model aligns more closely with how digital assets are typically used and stored, providing a more practical entry point for investors. The official also noted that such a mechanism is expected to improve operational efficiency and may broaden participation in regulated crypto products across the region.
The introduction of the in-kind subscription feature is part of a broader effort by the firm to expand its regulated service offerings. In recent months, HashKey Capital has obtained additional regulatory approval from the SFC for services including Ethereum staking and discretionary account management. With these developments, the company continues to build its presence in Hong Kong's regulated digital asset sector, positioning itself among a limited number of asset managers authorized to provide this level of crypto fund access. HashKey Capital manages a suite of digital asset products, including an actively managed fund and the Bosera HashKey Bitcoin and Ether spot ETFs, which are listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEX).
