HKEX Appoints Jalal Almarhoon as Middle East Chief Following Riyadh Office Launch

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) has appointed Jalal Almarhoon as Managing Director and Chief Regional Representative for the Middle East, as the exchange expands its presence in the region.
The appointment follows the recent opening of HKEX’s office in Riyadh.
Almarhoon assumed the role on 10 February and reports to Johnson Chui, Head of Global Issuer Services at HKEX. He is responsible for strengthening the exchange’s engagement across Saudi Arabia and neighbouring markets, promoting Hong Kong as a listing venue, and managing relationships with regional investors and stakeholders.
HKEX said the Middle East is playing a growing role in global capital flows and described the regional expansion as part of its strategic priorities.
Chief Executive Bonnie Y Chan said the exchange was “delighted to welcome Jalal,” citing his more than 20 years of experience across financial centres including Riyadh, Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Amsterdam.
Almarhoon joins from BNP Paribas, where he served as Managing Director and Head of Strategic Corporate Coverage in Saudi Arabia. He previously held senior roles at Société Générale and Standard Chartered.
