HKEX Names Herbert Hui as New Group Chief Financial Officer

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) has announced the appointment of Herbert Hui as its new Group Chief Financial Officer, effective June 9, 2025. Mr. Hui will succeed Vanessa Lau, who will remain as HKEX Chief Operating Officer after a decade overseeing the exchange's finance functions, including five years in the Group CFO role.
In his new capacity, Mr. Hui will be responsible for overseeing HKEX's Financial, Treasury, and Investor Relations functions. He will report directly to Chief Executive Officer Bonnie L. Chan and will also join the firm's Management Committee.
Bonnie L. Chan stated, "I am delighted to welcome Herbert to the HKEX family." She added that Mr. Hui's "deep experience across a wide range of financial disciplines from his decadeslong career will be immensely valuable to the organisation, and to our colleagues."
Prior to joining HKEX, Mr. Hui served as Group Financial Controller at Wheelock Properties. His previous experience also includes roles as Finance Director and Executive Directorate member at MTR Corporation between 2016 and 2023. Earlier in his career, he held senior positions at prominent financial institutions such as Morgan Stanley Asia and HSBC Investment Banking Asia.
Ms. Chan further commented that Mr. Hui's appointment comes at a "pivotal moment" as HKEX continues to advance its strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing the resilience, vibrancy, and liquidity of its markets. Meanwhile, Ms. Lau will continue to lead the Group Strategy, Operations, and Strategic Projects teams, with a focus on the daily running of the business and the further development of HKEX's platform.
