HKEX Names Robert Cheeseman as Co-Head of Asset Accumulation

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) has named Robert Cheeseman as Managing Director and Co-Head of Asset Accumulation in the Sales and Marketing Department. He will take office on June 1 and will report to Christina Bao and Kevin Rideout, co-Heads of Sales and Marketing.

Robert will bring extensive experience in the derivatives industry to the company. Prior to HEKX, he served at Credit Suisse as managing director and Asia-Pacific head of prime derivatives services for more than 4 years. Before joining Credit Suisse in 2018, Robert had led the derivatives division at Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley.

Robert brings over 20 years of experience and deep client connectivity in the derivatives space, having worked in Hong Kong, London and in Australia," Wilfred Yiu, Co-Head of Markets at HKEX, said: "He will be an integral part of our leadership team to build HKEX into Asia's leading risk management centre."

There have been frequent senior changes in the exchange this year. In the past month, Calvin Tai, President and COO of HKEX, announced that he would retire at the end of May. Also Catherine Lester, CEO of the broker's London Metal Exchange (LME), decided to leave to pursue interests outside and was replaced by acting CFO Tabitha Silverwood. Furthermore, Adrian Farnham would step down as CEO of LME Clear in July.

In early January, HKEX appointed Kerry Rooks as chief people officer. Shortly after that, Li-Chien Wong was named co-head of IPO vetting in conjunction with the appointment of three new members of the International Advisory Committee. Moreover, the exchange welcomed Daniel Sonder, Yang Qiumei and Adeline Ee as Co-Head of Emerging Business Development, Managing Director & Advisor to the CEO, and Managing Director & Head of Sales and Marketing, ASEAN, respectively in March.
