HKEX Reports Another Good Quarter of Strategic Progress in Q3 2023

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) has today (October 20, 2023) released its financial results for the third quarter of 2023, indicating another good quarter of strategic progress for the Group.
Financial Highlights (Comparison of Q3 2023 with Q3 2022):
Q3 2023 revenue and other income came in at $5,084 million, up 18 percent compared with Q3 2022's $4,318 million.
Core business revenue was $4,696 million, up 9 percent against Q3 2022, attributable to the increase in net investment income from Margin Funds and Clearing House Funds, partly offset by lower listing fees.
Net investment income from Corporate Funds reached $360 million, compared to a Q3 2022 loss of $46 million, driven by higher investment income from internally-managed Corporate Funds, and lower fair value losses on the externally-managed investment funds (External Portfolio) of $5 million, compared to the year ago quarter's losses of $148 million.
Operating expenses were up 1 percent to $1,304 million, attributable to higher staff costs and IT costs, partly offset by lower charitable donations and professional fees.
EBITDA margin was 74 percent, 4 percentage points higher than Q3 2022.
Profit attributable to shareholders was $2,953 million, 30 percent higher than Q3 2022.
Basic earnings per share grew 30 percent year-over-year to $2.33.
In early September, Fazzaco reported that HKEX unveiled the opening of its new office in London, further extending its international reach.
At the end of the month, the Group has confirmed the launch date for FINI, Hong Kong's new digitalised IPO settlement platform, on 22 November 2023.
