HKMA Grants Banking Licence to China CITIC Bank

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA), Hong Kong's central banking institution, announced yesterday that it has granted a banking licence to China CITIC Bank Corporation Limited under the Banking Ordinance, with effect from June 8, 2023.
China CITIC Bank is incorporated in the People's Republic of China.
Hong Kong has been increasingly favored by global financial companies this year, with a host of firms, especially crypto firms, choosing to seek local licenses, or open offices in the city, including Huobi, BitMEX, OKX, and Gate Group.
