ICE Sees 23.7% MoM Increase in Trading Volume of Overall Financial Products for November 2023

Intercontinental Exchange, Inc. (ICE), a leading global provider of data, technology, and market infrastructure, has updated its trading data for November 2023, recording a total volume of overall financial products of 58,353,996 contracts, up 23.7% compared to 47,179,451 contracts in the prior month and up 25.6% compared to 46,472,297 contracts in the same period of last year.
More specifically, volume of interest rates for the month totaled 51,828,424 contracts, increasing 28.5% from 40,342,525 contracts in October 2023 and jumping 36.1% from 38,091,311 in November 2022. The average daily volume (ADV) of interest rates came in at 2,355,837 contracts, compared with 1,833,751 contracts in the prior month and 1,731,423 contracts in last year's November.
Total volume of equity indices during the period amounted to 5,918,992 contracts, 5.2% lower than 6,244,452 contracts in last month and 18.3% lower than 7,246,639 in November 2022. ADV of equity indices was 281,857 contracts, compared with 283,839 contracts in the previous month and 345,078 contracts in the same period of 2022.
In November 2023, volume of FX and other financial products reached 606,580 contracts, an increase of 2.4% compared to 592,474 contracts in October this year and a decrease of 46.5% compared to 1,134,347 contracts in November of last year. ADV was 28,885 contracts for the month, up 7.3% MoM (October 2023: 26,931 contracts) and down 46.5% YoY (November 2022: 54,017 contracts).
Furthermore, total futures and options reported 151,773,506 contracts for the month, increasing 6.6% from 142,367,574 contracts in October and jumping 25.3% from 121,112,879 contracts in the year-ago month.
