ICE Unveils Monthly Decrease in ADV Across Multiple Metrics for April 2023

Intercontinental Exchange, Inc., a leading global provider of data, technology and market infrastructure, has released its trading data for April 2023, seeing an overall monthly decrease in Average Daily Volume (ADV) for the month.
ICE Exchange-Traded Derivatives Contract Volume - Monthly ADV
ADV of the exchange's futures and options reached 5.85 million, dropping 22.6% compared to 6.95 million contracts in March 2023 and increasing 4.0% compared to 5.62 million contracts in April 2022.
ADV of energy was 3.28 million contracts, down 4.8% compared to 3.44 million contracts in March 2023 and down 8.8% compared to 3.01 million contracts in April 2022.
ADV of commodities amounted to 3.88 million contracts, down 1.3% compared to 3.93 million contracts in March 2023 and up 12.3% compared to 3.45 million contracts in April 2022.
ADV of financial products, including interest rates, equity indices and FX&credit, totaled 1.97 million contracts, down 34.8% compared to 3.02 million contracts in March 2023 and down 9.2% compared to 2.17 million contracts in April 2022.
ICE U.S. Equity Options - Monthly ADV
ADV of ICE's total equity options amounted to 36.50 million contracts, down 12.9% compared to 42.43 million contacts in the prior month and basically equal to 36.57 million contracts in April of last year.
ADV of U.S equity option came in at 7.45 million contracts, 14.4% lower than 8.71 million contracts in March and 3.3% lower than 7.71 million contracts in April 2022.
