IG Group Reports FY2025 Results, Outlining Strategic Shift Beyond OTC Core
IG Group's latest annual report details a strategic pivot from a leveraged trading specialist to a broader multi-asset platform. For the full calendar year 2025, the company reported revenue of £1.1234 billion, net trading revenue of £1.0046 billion, and EBITDA of £531.1 million.
The bulk of earnings remains reliant on over-the-counter derivatives, which generated £450.6 million in net trading revenue. This underscores the company's continued structural dependence on its OTC model, with diversification efforts framed as a long-term priority.
Customer growth was significantly boosted by the acquisition of Freetrade. Headline active customers surged 174% to 742.1k, but organic growth, excluding the acquisition, was a more modest 6% increase to 281.3k.
Product expansion included the launch of 24/5 trading, pre-IPO markets, and zero-commission stock trading in several markets. The company is building a strategic position in crypto, having launched spot trading in Australia with plans for further geographic expansion.
IG returned £320.8 million to shareholders in 2025 and announced an additional £125 million buyback. The company also confirmed a strategic review, exploring options including acquisitions and potential changes to its listing, with an update expected in autumn 2026.
