IG Group Singapore Launches “IG Markets” Brand, Offers 3% Interest on Shareholdings

The launch marks IG’s push to expand beyond its core contracts for difference (CFD) business. Gavin Chia, CEO of IG Singapore and Emerging Markets, recently said the firm aims to broaden its investment platform to include a wider range of asset classes.

“In an environment where interest rates are softening, investors are looking for new ways to stretch their dollar,” Chia said.

The new offering provides interest on shareholdings of up to S$50,000, with no minimum balance or lock-in period. To qualify, investors must complete at least one trade per calendar month. IG did not classify the offering as a promotional campaign.

Under the IG Markets brand, clients in Singapore will have access to both domestic and global markets, including the U.S., U.K., Hong Kong, and Japan.

The initiative comes as IG Group diversifies its business globally. In recent years, the company has moved into cryptocurrency markets through acquisitions and partnerships. It has acquired a crypto exchange licensed in Australia and Singapore, partnered with third-party providers to offer physical crypto trading, and secured approval from the U.K. regulator to provide direct crypto services.

While IG’s trading revenue slightly declined in the first quarter of its current financial year, its overall client base continues to grow. However, revenue from the Asia-Pacific and Middle East regions fell 18%, highlighting uneven regional performance amid its diversification efforts.
