IG Group has now joined this trend, with long-time Trading Director Adam Blemings stepping down, bringing nearly two decades at the London-listed broker to an end.

Veteran Trading Executive Departs IG

Blemings confirmed that his tenure at IG concluded at the end of 2025, just short of his 20-year anniversary with the firm. Reflecting on his departure, he described his time at IG as  "an incredible journey", highlighting the relationships he built along the way and the many colleagues who became close friends.

Joining IG in 2006 shortly after its market re-listing following a management buyout, Blemings arrived during a period of significant growth. As the company expanded its trading operations and product offering, he became one of the most experienced figures within the firm's trading division.

He began his career at IG as a futures dealer, focusing on listed derivatives that form a core part of the broker's business. Over the years, he progressed through a wide range of senior roles, including Chief Futures Dealer, Head of Dealing in Australia, Deputy Head of Futures and FX, Head of Futures and FX, Head of Trading, and ultimately Trading Director.

During his time in leadership, Blemings frequently emphasized the importance of strong followership, noting that effective leadership depends on trust, shared purpose, respect, and empowerment. He credited his own managers for shaping his approach and expressed gratitude for their guidance and support.

Looking ahead, Blemings said he plans to take an extended break at the beginning of 2026 before deciding on his next chapter.
