IG Japan Suspends Vanilla Options Trading for Retail Clients

IG Securities, the Japanese subsidiary of IG Group, has suspended vanilla options trading for individual accounts. The suspension is due to a revision of the margin calculation methodology for this product, which was launched on February 9, 2026. Trading for corporate accounts remains unaffected. The temporary suspension began at noon on May 21, 2026 and will continue until further notice.
IG Japan stated it will announce a resumption date via a news release once it is determined. Clients may close existing positions via the standard positions screen, and settlements for maturing positions will proceed normally. All other services besides vanilla options trading continue to operate as usual.
