IG Japan to Halt Crypto ETF CFD Services
IG Securities, the Japan-based subsidiary of IG Group, will discontinue its cryptocurrency ETF CFD offering following recent regulatory changes. The decision comes after Japan’s Financial Services Agency (FSA) revised its “Q&A Concerning Financial Instruments and Exchange Business” on October 31, 2025, outlining updated policies for handling crypto ETF CFDs. IG Japan stated that, after internal review, it will comply with the new guidance and end the service.
Starting Monday, December 1, 2025, the brokerage will stop accepting new orders for crypto ETF CFDs and will cancel any pending orders at that time. Existing positions may still be closed after the cutoff date.
The final settlement deadline is January 31, 2026, with trading ending at market close on that day. Any positions not closed by customers before the deadline will be liquidated by the firm at the closing price on January 31.
Standard trading fees will continue to apply for voluntary and forced settlements. Other IG Japan products and services outside cryptocurrency ETFs and CFDs will operate as usual.
