Indian Digital Lending Platform Lentra Acquires AI Firm TheDataTeam

Indian digital lending platform Lentra has announced the acquisition of Chennai and Singapore-based artificial intelligence (AI) start-up TheDataTeam (TDT) for an undisclosed sum.

Lentra says it will deploy TDT’s behaviour intelligence platform Cadenz to help banks and financial institutions make better data-driven decisions on customer creditworthiness based on their unique financial journeys.

“This will help launch new innovative products for a faster go-to market,” the company says.

The cloud-native platform, founded in 2019, works with over 50 banks and financial institutions and claims to have processed over 13 billion transactions. Lentra is backed by HDFC Bank, Bessemer Venture Partners and SIG.

With the acquisition, Rangarajan Vasudevan, founder and CEO of TDT, has also joined Lentra as chief data officer.

TDT launched Cadenz in 2019. The company says it “simplifies the journey from raw customer data to live intelligence” and helps businesses eliminate friction and drive new initiatives in “record-quick time”.

Lentra will integrate its SaaS and API-driven modular architecture with Cadenz’s stack.
