Institutional FX Trading Volume Shows Significant Monthly Increase in February

The trading volumes of leading institutional FX and ECN platforms in February 2022 have been revealed, generally showing an overall increase.

The report covers Average Daily Volume (ADV) of institutional FX trading volumes from seven major venues, namely Cboe FX, CLS, Euronext FX, FxSpotStream, Integral, Moscow Exchange and Refinitiv.

Overall, Moscow Exchange has the biggest percent of MoM increase of 32.14 percent, followed by FxSpotStream with 19.15 percent and Cboe FX with 14.91 percent. CLS, Euronext FX, Integral and Refinitiv are also showing upstick.

The detailing trading volumes for each venues are as follows:


Cboe FX

Cboe FX has reported $42.011 billion ADV, an increase of 14.9% compared to $36.56 billion in January 2022.

CLS

CLS saw average daily traded volumes of $1.98 trillion in February, this was a year-on-year jump of 2 percent while increasing 5.5 percent on a monthly basis.

Spot trading demand grew by around 13 percent from the ADV of January, while the increase was 7 percent when compared with the same month of the previous year. In absolute terms, spot trading ADV for February came in at $514 billion.

Euronext FX

Euronext FX's average daily volumes (ADV) was $25.01 billion in February 2022, which represents a rise of 11.9 percent compared to January 2022.

FxSpotStream

FxSpotStream had a total volume figure of $1.26 trillion, compared with January's $1.11 trillion. The total figure in February jumped by 9 percent when compared with the previous month, while on a year-on-year basis it increased by more than 21 percent.

The average daily volume (ADV) for February came in $63.1 billion, which is an increase of 19.2% on a monthly basis. On a yearly basis, ADV rose by 27.3% compared to the same period last year.

Integral

Integral's total volume in February reached $54.9 billion, an increase of 8.9% over the same time in 2021.

The most recent data grew by over 12.7 percent as compared to January 2022. During the first two months of the running year, customers' average daily volumes continually increased. The FX technology firm recorded a remarkable recovery in the ADV in January 2022, with the figure reaching $48.7 billion.

Moscow Exchange

Moscow Exchange's average daily volumes (ADV) was $22.2 billion in February 2022, which represents a rise of 32.14 percent compared to January 2022.

Refinitiv

Refinitiv's average daily volumes (ADV) was $103 billion, which is up 6.1 percent from the previous month's $97 billion.
