Institutional FX Trading Volumes Shows 2.0% Rise in October 2021

The trading volumes of leading institutional FX and ECN platforms in October have been revealed, generally showing a slight increase, with only two venues reflecting a slight drop.
The report covers Average Daily Volume (ADV) of institutional FX trading volumes from eight major venues, namely Cboe FX, CLS, Euronext FX, FxSpotStream, Integral, Moscow Exchange, PrimeXM and Refinitiv.
Institutional FX volumes reflected a slight increase, from $92.32 billion in September to $94.18 billion in October on average levels. CLS, Euronext FX, FxSpotStream, Integral and Moscow Exchange all reported a rise in average daily FX trading volumes in October versus September, with Cboe FX and PrimeXM reflecting a slight decrease. FX volumes at Refinitiv was virtually unchanged from the month prior, coming in at $89 billion.
The detailing trading volumes for each venues are as follows:
Cboe Global Markets, Inc. (Cboe: CBOE) reported its October global FX spot trading volume, with $34.17 billion total average daily notional value (ADNV) in 21 trading days, which represents a decrease of 0.4 percent compared to September 2021.
CLS saw average daily traded volumes of USD1.86 trillion in October, up 9 percent compared to October 2020.
There was an increase in FX swaps and FX spot volumes of 10 percent and 13 percent respectively compared to October 2020. By contrast, the group recorded a decrease in FX forward volumes of 13 percent compared to the prior year.
Euronext FX's average daily volumes (ADV) is $19.32 billion in October 2021, which represents a rise of 4.2 percent compared to September 2021 and an increase of 3.8 percent compared to the same period in 2020.
In October, FxSpotStream's total figure came in at $1.060 trillion, which was virtually unchanged from the month prior.
October's ADV stood at $50.4 billion, which was up by nearly 4.4 percent compared to September 2021. The ADV rose by 29.8 percent when compared to the same period last year.
Integral's average daily volumes (ADV) across Integral platforms totalled $50.5 billion in October 2021, which represents an increase of 12.5 percent compared to September 2021 and an increase of 15.3 percent compared to the same period in 2020.
The total trading volumes across Moscow Exchange's markets In October fell by 5.4 percent to RUB 84.9 trln (RUB 89.7 in October 2020).
FX Market trading volume fell by 16.7 percent to RUB 24.9 trln compared to the same period of 2020, with spot trades amounting to RUB 7.7 trln and swap trades and forwards totaling RUB 17.1 trln.
The FX Market's ADTV was RUB 1,184.9 bln (USD 16.6 bln), compared to RUB 1,358.5 bln (USD 17.5 bln) in October 2020.
PrimeXM has recorded a total of $1.10 trillion in monthly trading volume in October across the 3 major Data Center locations, which represents a 23 percent YoY increase in trading activities.
The Average Daily Volume (ADV) in October was $52.38 billion. The total number of trades in October was 30.22 million.
Refinitiv's average daily volumes (ADV) in October was $89.0 billion, which was virtually unchanged from the month prior.
