Institutional Spot FX Trading Volume Total Cools Off in December, Plummeting 16.07%

Consistent with the temperature of this month, the institutional spot FX trading volumes of major platforms in December have cooled off in an all-round manner. Among the five major institutions, the total sees a 16.07% drop monthly. The max. decline comes from CME EBS, down 21.19%. The trading volume details of each are as follows:

Cboe FX

In December 2024, Cboe FX's spot ADV decreased from US$47.706 billion in November to US$40.983 billion, a 14.09% decrease. The year-on-year comparison shows a 7.99% fall from US$44.542 billion of December 2023.

Euronext FX

In December 2024, Euronext FX's spot ADV decreased from US$29.214 billion in November to US$24.033 billion, the m-o-m decrease is 17.73%. The year-on-year comparison shows a 1.02% fall from US$24.281 billion of December 2023.

FxSpotStream

In December 2024, FxSpotStream's spot ADV decreased from US$72.28 billion in November to US$62.225 billion, down 13.91%. The year-on-year comparison shows a 26.45% rise from US$49.211 billion of December 2023.

360T

In December 2024, 360T's spot ADV decreased from US$31.623 billion in November to US$28.143 billion, an 11% m-o-m fall. The year-on-year comparison shows a 1.64% rise from US$27.688 billion of December 2023.

CME EBS

In December 2024, CME EBS's spot ADV decreased from US$70.8 billion in November to US$55.8 billion, down 21.19%. The year-on-year comparison shows a 6.08% rise from US$52.6 billion of December 2023.
