Interactive Brokers Experiences Login Disruption During US Trading Hours

Many users of Interactive Brokers (NASDAQ: IBKR) reported difficulties accessing the broker’s platform on Wednesday, with social media posts indicating login and connectivity issues during US trading hours.
Some traders independently verified the reported login issues after being unable to access an Interactive Brokers account during checks conducted after the reports emerged. The observation suggests the issue may have affected at least some users, although the extent of the disruption could not be independently determined.
The company had not issued a public statement acknowledging an outage or service disruption. Posts on X indicated that some traders were experiencing login failures or were unable to access their accounts, though there was no indication that the issue was affecting all users globally. The discrepancy between user reports and the broker’s system status page left the scope of the incident unclear.
It was also not immediately known whether the reported problems were linked to a specific region, internet service provider, or platform. Separately, reports also emerged that several major hedge funds, including Citadel, Point72 and Two Sigma, had been targeted in a wave of attempted AI-powered voice phishing attacks, but there is no indication the reported cyberattacks were related to the Interactive Brokers login issues.
Interactive Brokers experienced a similar incident in March 2020, when the company said a server issue briefly affected login access for some clients in the UK and Europe, impacting Trader Workstation and its mobile platform while Client Portal and WebTrader remained available.
Trading platform outages have affected other brokers in recent years, including XTB in November 2025, which experienced a platform failure that prevented clients from closing positions for several hours, and Robinhood, which had multiple service disruptions during periods of elevated market activity. In each case, the brokers later restored services and provided updates on the incidents.
