Interactive Brokers Launches Zero-Fee US Trading in Singapore

Interactive Brokers has launched its IBKR Lite commission-free trading service in Singapore, allowing investors to trade US-listed stocks and exchange-traded funds without paying platform or settlement fees. The move extends the broker's global pricing model into a key Asian financial hub, where demand for direct access to US equities has been growing.

Under the new offering, Singapore-based clients can place trades in over 10,000 US securities around the clock from Monday to Friday. The service is intended to address time zone differences by enabling transactions during Asian business hours, even when US markets are closed. According to the firm, IBKR Lite differs from many "zero commission" competitors by eliminating hidden costs such as platform or settlement fees.

"We're pleased to bring zero-commission US stock trading to investors in Singapore," said Yujun Lin, CEO of Interactive Brokers Singapore. "With IBKR Lite, clients benefit from cost-effective access to the US markets, with zero commissions and no platform or settlement fees."

In addition to commission-free trading, the plan offers fractional shares, automated recurring investments, and participation in the Stock Yield Enhancement Program, which lets clients earn income from fully paid shares. IBKR Lite customers can also receive competitive interest on idle cash balances. Investors may switch between IBKR Lite and the IBKR Pro plan, the latter providing access to the firm's SmartRouting technology for optimal trade execution.

Interactive Brokers has maintained a presence in Singapore since 2020, offering access to more than 160 global markets and asset classes including stocks, options, futures, currencies, bonds, and funds. The expansion comes amid increased competition in the city-state's brokerage sector, with both traditional and crypto-focused trading platforms entering the market.
