Interactive Brokers Nears $1 Trillion in Client Equity as May Trading Activity Surges 47%

The brokerage's Daily Average Revenue Trades (DARTs) reached 4.969 million for the month, a 47% increase year-over-year and a 17% rise from April.

Client equity climbed to $937.3 billion at the end of May, marking a 49% annual increase and an 8% monthly gain, bringing total client assets close to the $1 trillion milestone. Ending client margin loan balances stood at $100.9 billion, up 65% from a year earlier and 11% higher than April. Client credit balances reached $180.1 billion, which included $6.4 billion in insured bank deposit sweep programs, representing a 34% annual increase.

The broker's client base expanded to 4.995 million accounts, a 32% rise year-over-year. The annualized average cleared DARTs per account was 216, with an average commission per cleared order of $2.60. Margin loan balances showed the strongest annual growth at 65%, followed by client equity at 49% and DARTs at 47%.

Separately, Interactive Brokers integrated access to Anthropic's Claude AI through its certified connector marketplace. Clients can use the tool with existing credentials to research markets and generate trade instructions, which are sent to a review tab and require client approval before execution for stocks and ETFs.
