Interactive Brokers Reports 21% Y/Y Decline in DARTs in December 2022

Interactive Brokers, one of the biggest US-based brokerage firm, has posted its trading volumes for the month of December, indicating a drop in DARTs on a YoY basis.

More specifically, the broker registered a DARTs of 1.751 million, 21 pecent lower than the previous year and 10 percent lower than the previous month. In December, Interactive Brokers's ending client equity reached $306.7 billion, down by 18 percent compared with last year and 3 percent compared with the last month. Ending client credit balances came in at $95.2 billion, up by 9 percent on a YoY basis and decreased by 1 percent on a MoM basis.

Moreover, the broker's ending client margin loan balances hit $38.9 billion, showing a 29 percent decrease compared to the prior year and a 1 percent increase with prior month. 

In terms of client accounts, the US brokerage reported that the total number of traders on the platform was 2.09 million, increased by 25 percent than the same period last year, and 1 percent than the last month.

As Fazzaco previously reported, Interactive Brokers has announced the launch of its new tool Recurring Investments​, with which users can setup and execute a predetermined investment strategy by automatically investing funds on a recurring schedule. This new offering allows investors to trade almost any US and European shares, and select to invest on a daily, weekly, or monthly schedule. On the start date, the trade will execute soon after the market opens and then repeats based on a user's predefined schedule, according to the official statement.
