Interactive Brokers Sees 8% Monthly Dip in August DARTs

Interactive Brokers, one of the biggest US-based brokerage firm, has released its monthly brokerage statistics for August 2021, reporting a monthly slow down in daily average revenue trades(DARTS). But, the figures strengthened on a year-over-year basis.

The total client DARTs for the month on the brokerage platform came to be 2.170 million, which is a decline of 8 percent when compared to the previous month, but 24 percent higher than the same month in the previous year.

In August, Interactive Brokers’s ending client equity reached $364.6 billion, which is 53 percent  higher than prior year and four percent higher than prior month. Furthermore, the company’s ending client margin loan balances hit $49.7 billion in August, which is 63 percent higher than 2020 and 4 percent higher than July.

When it comes to clients, the US brokerage reported that the total number of traders on the platform was 1.49 million, which is 57 percent higher than last year’s number and 3 percent higher than last month.

Last month, the broker registered a DARTs of 2.36 million​, 4 percent lower than the previous month and 32 percent higher than the previous year. In July, the broker has solicited over 37,200 new traders, bringing the total number of traders on the platform to more than 1.45 million.
