Interactive Brokers Sees 9% Y/Y Drop in DARTs in August 2022

Interactive Brokers, one of the biggest US-based brokerage firm, recently posted its trading volumes for the month of August, indicating a drop in DARTs on a YoY basis.

​More specifically, the broker registered a DARTs of 1.968 million, 9 pecent lower than the previous year and 8 percent higher than the previous month. In August, Interactive Brokers's ending client equity reached $310.1 billion, down by 15 percent compared with last year and 1 percent with last month. Ending client credit balances came in at $95.9 billion, up 13 percent on a YoY basis.

Moreover, the broker's ending client margin loan balances hit $43.1 billion, showing a 13 percent decrease compared to the prior year and a 2 percent increase with prior month. 

In terms of client accounts, the US brokerage reported that the total number of traders on the platform was 1.9879 million, up 33 percent than the same period last year, and 2 percent than the prior month.

As Fazzaco reported earlier, Interactive Brokers has further enhanced its portal's functionalities​ for individual clients, advisors and brokers. The enhancements are focused on fee charge and account queries. In the aspect of fee per trade unit, brokers can now charge client commissions on USD/CAD stocks as a percentage of trade value in addition to per share. For the account queries, client data generated by brokers using the account queries tool can now be exported in CSV format.
