Interactive Brokers Shows Resilience with 2.36M DARTs in May 2024

Interactive Brokers, a US-based automated global electronic broker, released its Electronic Brokerage monthly performance metrics for May 2024, reporting the Daily Average Revenue Trades (DARTs) of 2.360 million, 27% higher than 1.860 million in the year-ago month and 1% higher than 2.339 million in the prior month.
The brokerage firm ended the month with $486.3 billion client equity, an increase of 41% compared to $345.1 billion in May 2023 and an increase of 6% compared to $457.8 billion in April this year.
Ending client margin loan balances rose by 33% from $39.8 billion to $53.1 billion on a year-on-year basis (YoY), up 5% compared to $50.7 billion in the previous month.
Ending client credit balances stood at $106.7 billion for the period, including $4.0 billion in insured bank deposit sweeps, 8% higher than $98.7 billion in the same period of 2023 and 1% higher than $105.8 billion in the prior month.
2.86 million client accounts were registered for the month, up 27% compared to 2.26 million client accounts in May 2023 and up 2% compared to 2.81 million client accounts in April of this year.
The average commission per cleared Commissionable Order was $3.01 including exchange, clearing and regulatory fees. While the figure was $3.08 for the year-ago month and $3.00 for the previous month.
Solid financial performance has established a strong foundation for the growth of Interactive Brokers. In the past month, the trading giant expanded its offerings by introducing cryptocurrency trading services in Hong Kong and the UK, solidifying its position in the crypto trading sector. Additionally, the broker made another significant move by becoming a direct trading participant in Cboe Europe Derivatives, Cboe's pan-European equity derivatives marketplace.
